Programs For Ages 4-7

Wetfeet

Ages: 4 to 7

Bundle an AM and a PM session to make Wetfeet Full Day for $475!

Wetfeet is a one week, half day program for children ages 4 to 7. Our youngest sailors will learn water safety and basic sailing skills in a safe and fun environment. Whether they are exploring the inlet, or on a treasure hunt for a pirate’s lost gold, these sailors learn that being safe on the water with friends is fun!

Wetfeet programs run either AM (9:00 am to 12:00 pm) or PM (1:00pm-4:00pm).

Girl Power 4-7

Girl Power is a one week program for girls ages 4 to 7, designed to encourage and empower our young female sailors. Similar to Wetfeet, sailors will learn sailing skills to explore and play on our local waters. This program teaches confidence, independence, and how to have fun on the water in an all-female environment!

Girl Power 5-7 programs run either AM (9:00 am to 12:00 pm) or PM (1:00pm-4:00pm).

Junior Sailing 1/2 Day

Program Offerings:

Juniors is a one week program, designed for children ages 7 to 9. Sailors will learn how to steer and adjust sails; new skills that will help them explore the inlet, learn about our marine wildlife, and complete a quest for the pirates of Rocky Point!

Junior Sailing Half-Day programs are either AM (9:00 am to 12:00 pm) or PM (1:00pm-4:00pm).

Girl Power 7-9 1/2 Day

Girl Power is a one week program for girls ages 7 to 9, designed to encourage and empower our young female sailors. Programs For Ages 9-12

Dip your toes in with our one-week Learn-To-Sail Summer Camps! Explore the inlet this summer; build new skills with us through outdoor games, activities, and fun.

Opti Learn-To-Sail programs are taught using the Optimist Dinghy. Due to a smaller sail area, it is recommended that sailors weigh less than 110lbs.

Explore the water! This one-week program is designed for complete beginners, or sailors who have previously taken a Wetfeet, Juniors, or Girl Power Sailing Camp. 

Sailors learn the CANSail 1 skills through games, activities, and tons of time on the water. CANSail 1 teaches sailors the fundamental sailing skills; steering, sheeting sails, balance in a boat, and boat handling on all points of sail. Sailors can sail within defined boundaries set by an instructor.

Opti 2

Ages: 9 to 12

Prerequisite: CANSail 1/Opti 1

Find your next adventure! This one-week program is designed for sailors who have achieved their CANSail 1 certification, and are looking for the next steps!

Sailors learn the CANSail 2 skills through games, activities, and tons of time on the water. CANSail 2 teaches sailors to adjust their bodies and boats for changes in direction and wind speed while sailing and to perform boat-handling manoeuvres in a controlled manner while in a controlled setting.

Wave Riders

Ages: 10-15

Looking to dip your toes into water adventures? Our Wave Riders Program is the perfect introduction for beginners. This program is specifically designed to help participants get a sense of sailing and aquatic environments before moving on to more advanced courses like the CANSail curriculum.

Under the guidance of our enthusiastic instructors, campers will enjoy a fun blend of 50% sailing, 25% canoeing, and 25% eco-adventure. Through hands-on activities, they’ll explore the fundamentals of sailing, including balance, sail trim, and steering, in a relaxed and supportive setting.

Youth Leadership

Ages: 10 to 15

Prerequisite: CANSail 2 certification

Program Offerings: Week 2 (July 6-10)

This program is a leadership development course for sailors who have completed their CANSail 2, and are interested in becoming involved at the club. Youth Leaders will learn how to safely and responsibly assist beginner sailors on-land and on-water; becoming confident in skills such as hands-on sailing instruction, leading on-land games and activities, and dinghy capsize recovery.

This course offers sailors the opportunity to receive training on program operations, as well as their Pleasure Craft Operator Card (Boating License). These certifications are prerequisites for those who may be interested in becoming sailing instructors in the future.

Previously known as volunteer training, successful completion of this course is required in order to volunteer at RPSA Summer Camps.


Learn-To-Sail Programs for Ages 11-18

This beginner-friendly program is perfect for individuals with little to no experience in sailing. Sailors will work towards their CANSail 1 certification while learning the basics of steering, sail trimming, balance, and boat handling.

Designed for sailors ready to advance beyond the basics, this program builds on the CANSail 1 curriculum. Participants will work towards earning their CANSail 2 certification while refining their boat-handling skills and learning new techniques, including controlled maneuvers and efficient upwind and downwind sailing.

Intermediate and Advanced Sailing – Learn how to sail FAST!

This program is designed for sailors who have completed their CANSail 2 and want to build on their skills. Sailors will work towards their CANSail 3 and 4 certifications, diving into intermediate and advanced sailing techniques.

Key skills include refined boat handling, accelerating on the start line, racing around a course, and even learning how to sail backward. This is the perfect step for those eager to elevate their sailing abilities!

Advanced Sailing and Basic Integration of Racing

This program is tailored for sailors who have completed their CANSail 3 and are ready to focus on racing. Sailors will work towards their CANSail 4 and 5 certifications while developing advanced racing skills.

Participants will learn race tactics, strategy development, and advanced boat handling techniques around every corner of the race course. This program combines high-level sailing with competitive racing preparation, setting sailors up for success on and off the water!


Youth Learn-To-Race

Learn-To-Race 420/Laser

Ages: 11 to 18
Price: $475
Prerequisite: CANSail 2 certification or higher

Dip your toes into the world of sailboat racing! This one-week course offers an intro to key racing skills.

Sailors will learn new boat handling maneuvers to make their boat go as FAST as they like. Sailors will learn how to read the wind and current to make tactical racing decisions, and how to sail around a race course with other boats.

Sailors will develop key communication and teamwork skills with a partner! This program is run in C420 dinghies, a doublehanded (2-person) boat, and ILCA’s a single person boat.

Learn-To-Race Opti

Ages: 9 to 13
Price: $475
Prerequisite: CANSail 2 certification or higher

Dip your toes into the world of sailboat racing! This one-week course offers an intro to key racing skills.

Sailors will learn how to read the wind and current to make tactical racing decisions, and how to sail around a race course with other boats.

Adaptive Sailing Summer Camp

We are excited to launch our first year of Adaptive Able Sail summer camps! These camps are designed for individuals with physical or neurodiverse needs who love being out on the water. Chutes and Wires

Ages: 12+

Prerequisite: CANSail 4 or Higher

Program Offering: Week 3 (July 13-17)

Chutes & Wires is where sailing gets fast, technical, and exhilarating. Designed for sailors ready to level up, this course teaches the fundamentals of trapezing and flying a spinnaker on a Club 420. Sailors will build confidence on the wire, master coordinated crew work, and learn how to handle spinnaker maneuvers in real sailing conditions.
