Becoming an RPSA Member
Rocky Point Sailing Association membership includes participation in all club sponsored local events; such as Group Sail, Learn-to-Crew, Learn-to-Race, and social events.
Members are entitled to a 10% discount off all sailing programs for themselves, partners or children. An adult member and their partner are afforded the use of club boats subject to having certifications and boat availability.
Participation in the general meeting is encouraged, where members vote on important matters at our AGM. Members also form the legal entity that holds the Executive Board accountable for good stewardship and the fulfillment of our mission.
Members must be 18 years of age or older.
Group Sail is about getting time on the water, familiarizing yourself with boat rigging, sailing in a group, and meeting club members. Group sail is open to all members including those without CANSail certification; please notify us to ensure you are paired with an experienced sailor. Scheduled throughout May and June pending weather conditions.
Learn-to-Crew is an opportunity for club members and their family to paired with an experienced skipper for a day cruise on one of the club’s keelboats in the Burrard Inlet and Indian Arm. Members learn the basics of how to crew or can simply enjoy the voyage. Scheduled weekends May, June, and September.
Learn-to-Race is an opportunity to learn the basics of racing in a fun environment. Sail with family members, friends, or pair up with an experienced sailor to learn dinghy race techniques and strategy. Scheduled for Thursday 5pm – 9pm May through August.
The RPSA member BBQ is scheduled for June 8th and August 11th. Come sail with the participants completing the adult sail program and enjoy burgers and refreshments afterwards. Please notify us of how many in your party will be attending.
|General||General members may be interested in learning more about sailing and can participate in Group Sail and Learn-to-Crew to better evaluate whether sailing is a good fit for themselves.||None|
|Dinghy|| Dinghy sailors are certified to use all club dinghy boats (Optimist, 420, Laser). Optimist and Laser are one person only; the 420 can have at most 2 people (family or friend). |
Dinghy members may be interested in Group Sail, Learn-to-Crew, Learn-to-Race, and social events.
Dinghy members assist with important club operations including regattas, boat in/out, and scheduled maintenance.
|CANSail 2 certification New members must schedule an orientation before using the boats. Sailors who have not achieved CANSail 2 from RPSA must schedule a $50.00 skill assessment and club orientation. The assessment is two hours and bookings are subject to availability. |Keelboat|| Skippers are certified to sail the club keelboats (27’ Columbia and 29’ C&C) for day, weekend, or week-long cruises with family and friends. These members are also entitled to sail all club dinghy boats. |
Keelboat members may be interested in Group Sail, Learn-to-Race, Learn-to-Crew, and social events.
Keelboat member is actively involved with all club operations.

Membership is valid for the current season expiring at the season's end on or before December 31.
