CANSail is designed to be a set of progressive learn to sail standards focused on providing sailors with a solid foundation of core skills. It allows sailors to learn and progress in any type of boat and consolidates key skills and solid experiences before adding complex skills.

Through our lessons you will can be certified in nationally recognized CANSail levels and can become a dinghy member which will permit you to use of club dinghy boats outside regularly scheduled program hours.

CANSail 1&2

The six-session program is designed for adults ages 18 and up. It is designed for individuals with little or no sailing experience. Participants learn to sail using the 420 dinghy. Sailors who successfully complete the program receive Sail Canada’s CANSail 1 and 2 certification, which is required for club dinghy membership and boat usage.

Topics to be covered include knots, points of sail, capsizing, basic helm skills, terminology and much more. With lots of on-the-water practice this course is an exceptional introduction to the sport of sailing.

New for 2021, a double handed (two people) program using the 420 sail boat will be offered. The sailors will be in close proximity to one another. In alignment with BC Sail sport guidelines, we ask that registrants identify as living in the same private residence. Please provide the full names of the sailors in the Sailor 1 Full Name and Sailor 2 Full Name fields of the registrant information form. Program fees and participant capacity reflect two people registering at once.
