Our adult sailing courses offer an introduction to the world of sailing and water sport for those 18+.

We provide options for adults in both keelboats and dinghies. All courses follow nationally recognized Sail Canada curriculums. 

Adult courses are an excellent starting point for those interested in getting on the water. Successful completion opens the pathway to Membership. Learn more about membership options here.


Dinghy

Discover Sailing

Ages 18+
Price: $100
No experience necessary

Program Offerings: June 14th 1pm-5pm, July 20th 1pm-5pm

Discover sailing at RPSA! This one-day group sailing lesson is perfect for individuals ages 18+ who would like to see what sailing is all about.

Participants will learn basic sailing terminology, as well as some introductory helm skills including steering and adjusting sails. Lessons will be run using C420 dinghies.

CANSail Basic

Ages 18+
Price: $700
No experience necessary

Program Offerings:
Saturdays: May 24-June 28 from 1-5pm
Monday/Wednesday:

July 7-30 from 5:00pm-8:00pm

Our Sail Canada certified instructors will deliver a progression of lessons both on-land and on-water. They will deliver expert knowledge and directed feedback using the national Learn-To-Sail curriculum for dinghy sailing. Topics to be covered include knots, points of sail, capsizing, basic helm skills, terminology and much more. 

Successful participants will receive their CANSail 1 and CANSail 2 certification.

Salty Sisters

Ages 18+, Female
Price: $700
No experience necessary

Program Offerings:
Monday/Wednesday: June 2 – June 25 from 5:30-8:30pm
Saturdays: July 12- August 16 from 1pm-5pm

This female-only program, led by Sail Canada certified instructors, offers a welcoming space to learn the basics of dinghy sailing. Similar to CANSail Basic, participants will master knots, points of sail, capsizing, helm control, and more.

Earn your CANSail 1 and 2 certifications while building skills and connections with other women passionate about learning to sail!

CANSail Advanced

Price: $750
Prerequisite: CANSail 2
Program Offerings: Saturdays: September 6-October 18 (no session on thanksgiving)

Take your sailing to the next level with CANSail Advanced, a CANSail 3/4 program taught in C420s. This course is perfect for sailors ready to refine their boat handling, advanced sail trim, and race strategy while working towards CANSail 3 and 4 certifications.

Whether you’re enhancing your skills or preparing for racing, this is the ideal platform for developing confidence in fast sailing!


Maritime Radio

Stay safe and connected on the water with our VHF/ROC(M) course. This course is essential for anyone operating a keelboat or spending significant time on the water, as VHF radios are the primary means of communication in marine environments.

Participants will learn how to operate a VHF radio confidently, including calling other boats, communicating with marinas, and properly sending or receiving a Mayday signal in emergencies. The program covers all the key skills needed to navigate marine communication effectively, ensuring you’re prepared for any situation while on the water.

Whether you’re an experienced boater or just starting out, VHF/ROC(M) certification is a must-have for safe and responsible boating.
